Conventional breast augmentation procedures include fat injection, hyaluronic acid injection, and insertion of a bag prosthesis (artificial bag). In breast augmentation by Celution Breast Augmentation (transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells), , stem cells collected from the patient’s own adipose are concentrated and re-injected together with the fat. Because transplanted stem cells differentiate into new adipose tissue or vascular endothelial cells, this procedure has the advantages of a much higher fat graft survival (retention rate) and longer survival compared with common fat injection. Because of the use of the patient’s own adipose tissue, this represents a safer treatment with no concern for rejection.

Hyaluronic acid injection with an effective period of 1 to 2 years requires repeated injections to maintain breast conditions and treatment costs in proportion to the number of injections.   Graft Survival After Transplantation of Adipose Tissue-Derived Stem Cells

About 70% to 80% of fat injected by transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells is found to survive (in an animal experiment). The conditions stabilize in about two months. The graft survival rate varies among individuals. The graft survival rate in breast augmentation by conventional fat injection ranges from about 30% to 50%, and rejected fat is naturally absorbed into the body.

Transplantation of Adipose Tissue-Derived Stem Cells With Celution System

Cosmetic Surgery Seishin introduced the Celution System developed by Cytori Therapeutics for transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells. This is the world’s first introduction in the field of cosmetic surgery. Clinical application of the Celution System has started in many countries around the world, and clinical studies are ongoing in medical institutions in Italy, Spain, and other countries.

Highly purified enzymes are used to effectively and gently separate and aggregate regenerative stem cells present in adipose tissue.

Transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells is a treatment in which stem cells are extracted from adipose tissue, concentrated, and re-injected together with injectable fat. Some cosmetic surgery clinics claiming “breast augmentation by transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stem cells” perform breast augmentation together with injection of drugs for fat retention and prevention of necrosis; however, they do not perform cell processing for extraction of stem cells.
