Seishin Regenerative Medicine Center performs HARG therapy, a regenerative medicine-based cutting-edge treatment for hair regeneration. This therapy, developed through joint research in several countries around the world, directly administers active substances into the scalp for hair regeneration. This is a therapy for hair growth and restoration that may be performed only at medical institutions. The therapy have been extensively used in Europe and South Korea, and the hair growth and restoration effect and safety have been established. Treatment for hair regeneration with HARG therapy is now available in Japan as well.

HARG therapy uses growth factors that are effective in hair regeneration. The therapy for hair regeneration that may be performed exclusively at medical institutions has been developed by mixing growth factors with nutrients and vitamins. Along with the introduction of HARG therapy into Japan, the Japan Hair Re-Generative Medical Association (chairman, Hirotaro Fukuoka MD) was established. The therapy is provided only at seventeen facilities of three clinics including our clinics, which participate in the association.

HARG therapy produces a hair growth and restoration effect in persons with thinning hair or alopecia resulting from a variety of causes. The therapy is highly effective in treating thinning hair and hair loss in men as well as thinning hair in women.

*Treatments differ depending on the patient’s symptoms and conditions of residual hair roots, and the treating physician will explain the applicability of therapy during a prior counseling session.

HARG therapy uses the HARG cocktail, which is composed of growth factors available only at medical institutions as well as vitamins, proteins, and amino-acid components required for hair regeneration. HARG cocktail is a safe drug manufactured and controlled at drug management facilities with no risk of allergies. Hair growth and restoration is induced by directly administering the HARG cocktail containing a variety of growth factors into the scalp and delivering them to hair roots. The cocktail used differs depending on the conditions of each person and sex.

・ Napage method
Multiple injections (Napage) of therapeutic agents are made in the epidermis of the scalp to deliver active substances to the subcutaneous tissue.
・ Papule method
Therapeutic agents are injected between the epidermis and the dermis for delivery of active substances.
*These injection methods are used to administer the cocktail.

A medical-grade roller with ultrafine stainless steel needles (Derma Roller) is rolled over the scalp for effective penetration of therapeutic agents into the scalp.
As an anti-aging procedure with a Derma Roller, our clinics perform New Derma Roller Therapy that is effective in treating fine wrinkles, sags, pores, and acne marks.
On the basis of the degree of thinning hair and hair loss, the physician determines the cocktail administration procedure (injection therapy or Derma Roller Therapy) suitable for the patient and provides treatment. Because anesthesia is used during the procedure, the treatment is pain-free.

The lifetime of hair differs between men and women, which is attributed to hormones.
The lifetime is generally two to five years in men and four to seven years in women, during which the hair cycle is repeated.
When fewer hairs enter the anagen of the hair cycle, men are like to experience hair loss, and many women have thinning hair.
On the basis of the diagnosis by a physician, the composition of HARG cocktail for injection is individualized, and HARG therapy suitable for men or women is administered.

The hair root, in which hair grows, is primarily composed of the hair follicle. The hair follicle present below the pore is a sac-like tissue packing the hair root and is a very important tissue in the process of hair generation and growth. In HARG therapy, the HARG cocktail with a variety of growth factors permeates to regenerate the hair follicles and promote progressive hair growth.

Human cells grow while sending signals to surrounding cells and obtaining nutrients from blood and body fluids.
Stagnant hair growth is caused by the lack of nutrients for growth.
The most effective procedure for hair regeneration is direct supplementation with the nutrients.
HARG therapy provides hair with growth factors, which serve as intercellular signals and help hairs absorb nutrients.
Moreover, repeated administration of growth factors to regenerated hair results in continued cell signaling. This allows active repetition of the hair cycle.

The benefits of HARG therapy begin after receiving multiple treatment sessions for a certain period of time.
Although the number of sessions required varies among individuals depending on the condition, hair growth becomes apparent after about three sessions.
Number of treatment sessions
| 1 course | 6 sessions (3-week intervals) |
|---|---|
| 1/2 course | 3 sessions (3-week intervals) |
We commonly recommend that patients receive six treatment sessions (one course)to ensure hair growth.
About fifteen to twenty minutes (for each session)
Before therapy, a treating physician provides adequate counseling and information on the treatment.
We recommend coming to our clinic to receive follow-up treatments once every two months or so to maintain hair growth after completing the six treatment sessions (one course) and notice hair regeneration.
